Madrid (writing practice 1 – “essay”)
About Course
The essay is a cornerstone of the EOI B2 exam. It tests your ability to present a balanced argument, express opinions, and use a variety of complex grammatical structures. In this module, we will provide you with a step-by-step roadmap to writing a high-scoring essay.
What this course includes:
-
The Structure: We will master the 4-paragraph model (Introduction, two body paragraphs for different viewpoints, and a Conclusion). You’ll learn exactly what to include in each section to satisfy the exam board’s criteria.
-
The Writing & Feedback: You will be assigned a topic to write an essay on. Once submitted, I will provide a thorough correction, focusing on your “Cohesion and Coherence” and your “Lexical Resource.”
-
Vocabulary & Expressions: I will provide you with “bankable” phrases to introduce advantages/disadvantages, contrast ideas (e.g., “On the other hand…”, “Conversely…”), and conclude effectively.
-
Practical Reinforcement: We will wrap up with targeted exercises to help you practice “Topic Sentences” and the use of linkers in context.

Going on holiday with your in-laws, parents or even your siblings’ family can be tricky business, especially when you already have your own family. One of the greatest advantages is that your children bond with their cousins or grandparents. Still, somepeople argue that living under one roof creates tension, and that in order to avoid arguments it is necessary to establish cohabitation rules upon arrival and accept other ways to do things. Write a *for and against essay* about this topic. Include the following points: – The importance of family culture in Spain. – Advantages and disadvantages of family vacations. – Suggestions on how to prevent holiday conflicts and enjoy yourself. Write about 180-200 words. ** I suggest saving a copy in your class document or wherever you prefer; that way we make sure nothing is lost if there’s an error, and I can calmly correct it to send it to you later.
